The Dress

Back in August, I went dress shopping with my mom and my sister M (also the maid-of-honor). My sister M had done some legwork before we ventured to the store. As my sister, she knows what I like. She knows what looks good on my body and she’s brutally honest, in a good way.

I told M what styles I favored, and she found some pictures. Well, after I reviewed the pictures I called the daughter of the owner of the dress shop and asked her to set aside some dresses that would be similar to the styles M had found on-line. I told her I wanted absolutely NO beading and NO lace. It’s just not my style. I like simple and classic lines and I wanted it to be elegant and timeless.

When I walked into the room to try on dresses, the salesgirl informed me that the owner called the designer and he sent a sample of the dress I liked on-line. I immediately tried it on and LOVED it. It was everything I wanted—simple and classy. I put a veil on and said Yes to the Dress.

The salesgirl walked out of the room to gather some paperwork and my mom and I noticed there were other dresses in the room. The owner asked the designer to send other samples. I took a peek at the dresses in the garment bags and turned to my mom and said “Why the heck would they send these? I said NO beads and NO lace."

My mom said, "why don’t you try one on just for fun?"

I pulled the dress out of the bag and slid it on. I turned around to look in the mirror and started to tear up. I looked over at my mom, who was also tearing up. I knew immediately that it was “The One.”

Without further ado, here’s a picture of my dress:

Ha! Did you really think I was going to show you a picture? No way José. The real dress will be unveiled after the wedding =)

Did you go with the first or second? I can't wait to see it. I've tried to come up with a sassy comment about not being invited to your wedding but the words are not coming to me. LOL. Taking the big trip later is a great idea. It has always seemed wacky to me to throw the biggest party of your life then leave for a trip the next day...especially with all the gifts waiting to be opened! Enjoy it all!
