I love you, I win!

I thought I’d post a random, but cute story today that happened a few months ago.

During the early stages of dating J, we talked about the “L” word. Don’t worry, we didn’t say it right away or anything, but we talked about what a big word it is. Yes, it’s only four letters, but it means the world to someone, if it’s said in the right context.

Besides saying the word to my family and friends, I’d never really said it in a relationship and actually meant it. My logic is, if you don’t mean it, don’t say it. So, back to the early stages of dating J---I told him I wouldn’t be the first to say it if our relationship did indeed progress. When I said this, he looked at me and shook is head. I remember saying “I’m totally serious. I won’t be saying it first. It’s hard for me to have that word leave my mouth!”

Well, fast forward several months. I had been thinking about saying it to him for a few weeks, but I couldn’t muster up the courage. And by muster up the courage, I mean being the first to say it. I knew in my heart that he felt the same, but I also knew that his competitive spirit wouldn’t give in and let me win.

So, there we were, and all of a sudden I said, “I love you.” I knew when I said it, that I meant it with all my heart. So, guess what his response was? “I love you too…and I win!” The kid cracks me up, and even though I "lost" our bet, per se, I feel like we both won =) Okay, that's my sappy post for the day. Enjoy the week!
