After tedious research, J bit the bullet and purchased a Tempurpedic. Here’s the best part…he decided to keep it at my house =) You see, we sort of have a long distance relationship, and please keep in mind I use the term “long distance” loosely. J lives up North, about an hour from where I live. He makes the jaunt down from the North Country to visit me, and visits often. The kid is a saint---gas is expensive and traffic is annoying, but he never complains.
Back to the bed…I had a sleep number. I can’t emphasize how much I disliked my sleep number bed. Sure it was a novelty at first, but I had it for about 3 years and the novelty really wore off. Basically, it was a glorified air mattress. I really can’t say anything good about Select Comfort and their sleep number beds.
Well, after purchasing the Tempurpedic bed, the domino effect started. My aunt and uncle bought one, and then my parents bought one. When it’s delivered, there's a funky smell---not bad, but rather a typical smell of something that has been wrapped in plastic. J and I didn’t mind the smell, but my mom couldn’t stand it.
So the Saturday morning after her bed was delivered, my mom called me at 8 a.m. and was completely out of breath. Being the drama queen that I am, I thought something was wrong. I asked why she was out of breath, to which she replied “I’ve been jumping on the bed for the past 20-minutes.”
My response, “Um what? Is this a joke? You can’t be serious.”
Her reply “No! The only way to get rid of the ‘new’ smell is to open all the windows and jump on the bed. Can you and J please come over and jump on the bed?”
After I hung up, I looked at J. He asked if something was wrong. I told him that my mom asked us to come over and jump on the bed. He, like me, thought she was LOCO; however, we ended up going over there and jumped on the bed. I’m not sure if it actually worked, but the smell is gone. Here’s a picture of my mom and J, jumping on the bed. Maxie (our family dog) took part in the action too!

**After all is said and done, I highly recommend the Tempurpedic. To steal J's sentiments, I've never slept so well in my life!
