Blah...I'm sick

This past weekend I came down with a nasty cold. I’m still congested and have a sore throat, but I’ve been pumping orange juice, halls cough drops, Tylenol cold and other remedies into my system. Over lunch I walked over to Jamba Juice and ordered a Strawberry Nirvana with a cold buster boost. I (along with every other person in this world) hate getting sick.

Though the negatives outweigh the positives, I should mention a few of the positive aspects of feeling under the weather:

1. You can stay home from work and just lie in bed and watch crappy television. Unfortunately, I tend to either (a) get sick on the weekends; or (b) still go into work when I’m not feeling well. I was looking over my attendance for the 2008 calendar year, and I haven’t called in sick. Not even once. Crazy, right? I’m weird, I know. In fact, I think I missed a total of two days in high school, and one of those days was to travel on a school trip to Ireland a day before our Spring break began. I rarely missed/skipped any of my classes in college either.

2. You get to have people at your beck and call. Okay, I’m ashamed to say this, but I tend to go to my parents house when I’m sick and have my mom take care of me. I get to stay in one of the extra rooms in the house, watch satellite t.v., hang out with the dog and eat saltine crackers and drink Sprite. Basically (and my sisters would agree), we're treated like queens when we're sick.

This past weekend however, J took care of me at my house. He did laundry, went to the store, cleaned the house and made sure I was drinking my orange juice. He's a wonderful nurse.

I started to feel better yesterday afternoon, so we decided to head down to the lake by my house and just walk around for a bit and sat on a park bench. It was super relaxing, and the fresh air made me feel a lot better---plus, it was a BEAUTIFUL day! I think it was 65 and sunny, which is almost unbelievable for it being November.
I posted a picture above of J, using my camera phone. He was trying to impress me with his rock skipping skills during our walk around the lake.
