Adventures in Babysitting

Last Saturday night my brother-in-law and sister asked me if J and I would be interested in babysitting my niece, MK during their fantasy football party.

We said yes and went over to their house to pick her up. Rather than bring her to my un-baby-proofed home, J and I decided to bring her to my parent’s home. They have a fully loaded nursery and told us to come over.

The evening went pretty well until J and I had a slight miscommunication. While changing MK’s diaper, J ran into the bathroom to wash his hands. I thought that he had put her diaper on before he left to wash his hands, but he didn’t. MK was fidgeting and crying, so I buttoned her up and we went downstairs to feed her.

It wasn’t until an hour later I noticed something felt funny. The blanket swaddled around her tiny body seemed damp. I didn’t think anything of it at first. A couple of minutes later I said something to J. We decided to run upstairs and change her again.

Well, when we went to remove the wet diaper, we discovered there was no diaper.

I erroneously forgot to put a new diaper on when we had last changed her. Whoops!

J just looked at me, shook his head and laughed.

I said to him:

“Oh my gosh---I’m going to be a terrible mother! You probably don’t want to have kids with me!”

He calmed me down and said not to worry about it. He also said that he’d still have kids with me and that I’ll be a wonderful mother when that time comes.

Well, for the rest of the night, J relinquished my diaper changing duties. I’m not big on changing diapers (who is?), so maybe that’s a good thing =)

i'm sure you will be a very good mother! we all make mistakes with children (after babysitting for 13 years, you realize this).

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

You will not believe this but you will actually LIKE and possibly be obsessed with your children's diapers. You will aslo be very concerned about the frequency and size of the contents. Trust me.
