So I’m not a huge football fan. Blasphemy, right? Not really. I’m from Minnesota, and our national football team stinks. I think I’ve been to one Vikings game in my entire life. The college I went to was a D3 school, and they weren’t super great either. Although, maybe they were…I wouldn’t know. I only went to a couple of games, in which partying and people watching was more important.
As you can tell, my exposure to football has been minimal, at best.
Last year, a co-worker asked me to participate in the super bowl board. I’m not one for gambling or wasting my money, but I decided to purchase ONE square. Keep in mind there were a couple of boards, and my square was on the $2 board.
Well, last year, like every other American, I watched the game. I only watched it because of the commercials and the halftime entertainment. The last thing on my mind was the board.
When I came into work the following Monday, I was greeted by surprised co-workers saying “Can you believe you won?”
My response “Won what?”
Their response “The board, duh! Didn’t you watch the game?”
I couldn’t believe that I won. Beginners luck? Probably.
This year when asked to purchase some squares, I happily obliged. Wish me luck =)
*Edited to add: Sadly, I didn't win the office pool. I did, however, have a great time watching the game with J, my sisters and baby MK!
