Ring-a-Ding-Ding

On Sunday J and I were shopping in Edina to pick up some of his newly purchased suits and do some shopping. While walking around, we came across a jewelry store and decided to take a peak at rings.

Originally, I had said I wanted no part in picking out my ring. However, after J sent me a few samples of what he thought I would like, I insisted on being involved in the process.

Walking into the store, we didn’t really have any knowledge of diamonds, rings, etc. I’m the kind of girl that has a few staple items that I wear---my Irish Claddagh ring and my pearl earrings, neither of which are expensive. Other than that, I don’t own any expensive pieces. I’d rather spend money on a car, a plane ticket or something to that effect.

When we walked into the store, I had a vision of what I wanted---an emerald cut ring. Well after trying on a few emerald cut rings, I could tell they weren’t for me. They just weren’t my style and didn’t look good on my finger.

After that was established, I tried on various types of rings, and I found one style in particular that I loved. J thought it looked great too! I’m not going to divulge the style (some things have to remain secret)!

Nothing was purchased on Sunday; however, we have a good idea of what we want. J has begun his research and has reached out to some individuals with expertise in this subject.

When we were driving home from a super bowl party on Sunday evening, I started to tear up. I didn’t want him to notice, so I pretended that it was from a cold/allergies. I thought I owed J a real explanation, so I sent him this e-mail yesterday:

“Thank you again for another great weekend! I can't tell you how EXCITED I am about the ring thing. Seriously, last night when we were driving home from M's I had tears in my eyes---because I'm so thrilled about this whole process. I can't wait to marry you =)”

And this is an excerpt from his response:

“I thought you were crying in the car...I was not sure though. Needless to say I should have drove....you were all over the road ;) I am glad you are excited. That is better then being mad. I am excited as well. I however, am not going to cry. You are allowed to cry, but not too much. I on the other hand am allowed to freak out.”
